Advertiser terms
Version 2026-10-05.1. Effective October 5, 2026.
These terms apply when a business ("you") buys advertising on OnlineRecords.US ("we"). By ticking the box when you book, you accept the version shown at that time. We store which version you accepted and when.
1. What you buy
A placement is a seat in one county (and, for next steps and service listings, one service category) for one month at a time, at the price shown at checkout from our rate card. Each placement has a fixed number of seats per county. Seats rotate fairly among the advertisers holding them. We don't promise a number of impressions or clicks.
2. Labels and where ads appear
Every paid unit is labeled "Sponsored", sits in a visibly different frame and links to About our ads. Ads never appear inside a property record, the map, the unit picker, the lookup status, the lead form or the pros and cons, and paying never changes facts, rankings or hazard information in a report. A featured placement is not an endorsement, and the full list of licensed offices near a property stays complete and unfiltered.
3. Targeting and fair housing
You can target only by geography (state and county) and service category. You may not ask us to target, exclude or describe people or places by race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, national origin or any other protected class, or by demographics, schools, crime or neighborhood composition. We screen ad copy with a fair-housing filter and may reject or remove any ad. Housing-related ads carry the Equal Housing Opportunity statement.
4. Licenses
Real estate licensees and insurance agencies must hold an active license in the state where the ad runs, and contractors must hold any license their trade requires. You give us your license number; we check it against public licensing data or by hand, at sign-up and every month. If a license lapses, expires or can't be confirmed, we pause your ads until it is active again. Pausing for this reason doesn't extend or refund the paid period.
5. Your ad
You are responsible for your ad and the page it links to: it must be truthful, lawful and yours to use, including your logo. No unverifiable claims ("guaranteed", "#1", "lowest rates"), no wording that looks like a public record or implies government affiliation or our endorsement, and no misleading links. We review every new or changed ad before it runs and may reject it with a reason; you can edit and resubmit. You give us permission to display your ad, logo and license number on the site and in report emails.
6. Payment, renewal and cancellation
Payment is by card through Stripe. Each booking is a monthly subscription that renews automatically at the then-current price until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in the customer portal ("Manage billing" in your account); the ad keeps running to the end of the period you've paid for and isn't charged again. If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries it and emails you; if it stays unpaid we pause the ad and may end the booking and release the seat. Prices are shown before you pay and exclude any applicable sales tax. Your ad goes live at the start of the paid period once the ad and your license are approved. If we can't approve an ad you've paid for and you'd rather not change it, ask us and we'll cancel and refund that month.
7. Data and privacy
We count impressions (at least half the ad on screen) and clicks, aggregated per day, with bots filtered out, and show them in your dashboard and a monthly email. We never give advertisers visitors' names, emails, phone numbers or other contact details. Our privacy notice explains what we collect from visitors.
8. Our rights
We may pause or remove an ad that breaks these terms, the law or our policies, or if a complaint suggests it might, and we may change placements, prices or these terms for future periods with notice in your account or by email. Except where the law says otherwise, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you paid us for the affected placement in the three months before the claim.
